Day 8, and I’m STILL in the hospital. I feel good, (except in one area which isn’t working yet), but I’m bored, lonely, depressed, sad and a little… just a little… scared.
The social worker came in to talk to me today. She wanted to help set up an appointment with Home Care to get my staples out, and find out if I had someone to ‘look after me’ at home.
Well… #1. We don’t really have a home, and # 2. I’m perfectly capable of looking after myself, but I DO have fantastic friends and family to support me and an incredible husband to help me if needed.
Waa waa waa…. there’s just a little self-pity there, isn’t there? I KNOW that I’m lucky. I KNOW that there are so many people who have it so much worse in so many areas. I know I’ve said this before – I have friends, family, a home (even if we can’t stay in it right now). I had a tough, but well-paying job with a good pension and good benefits. I married my best friend. I’ve had the opportunity to travel to different countries and share the wonders with my husband. My cancer was caught early and should be easily dealt with. The doctors are knowledgeable and the nurses are great. I have a private room with my own bathroom for Pete’s sake! I have SO much that others don’t…
But today – just a little – I’m feeling a bit sorry for myself.
