Believe it or not, we actually made it to Calgary Airport. \u00a0In just a short time, we will board the plane to London, England, and our journey will officially begin. \u00a0We won’t believe it, though, until our feet actually hit the ground at Gatwick Airport!<\/p>\n

At the last minute, we decided to splurge on Plus seats. \u00a0There weren’t two together, but they were close, and we hoped one of our seat “partners” would switch with one of us so we could sit beside each other. \u00a0We weren’t sure exactly what Plus meant, except that it had more width and more knee room. I don’t sleep well at the best of times, so anything that might help could be good for me, AND for Shawn. \u00a0No one wants a tired grumpy Tami!<\/p>\n

Well, I still didn’t sleep well (our flight went all night and landed in London around 10:30 a.m.), but the rest of Plus was worth it! \u00a0If we ever have a long overnight flight again, we will certainly splurge again if we can.<\/p>\n

Wine, heavenly wine<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

When we arrived at our seats, we found a little welcome package that contained a lovely warm real blanket (not a light little disposable one), a pillow, a wallet that contained socks, a sleep mask, ear plugs, and a toothbrush and toothpaste. Before we took off, the hostess quickly came by with a choice of orange juice or Prosecco (which this little country mouse had no clue as to what it was!) (It’s a wine very similar to champagne for those of you who are like me.). \u00a0We had all the snacks you could eat, anytime<\/i> (I was excited), and all the wine you could drink anytime (SHAWN was excited!). \u00a0Warm little towels were delivered 3 or 4 times during the flight. Foot rests came out with the push of a button and the width and depth of the seat was much improved over our regular choice.<\/p>\n

Our meal choice was divine (another plus for me!). \u00a0We both chose the beef over the Thai chicken, and it was lovely *sigh*.<\/p>\n

– Beef pot roast topped with porcini mushroom sauce with roasted mini red skin potatoes, saut\u00e9ed baby carrots and green beans. \u00a0The dish was accompanied by a warm roll with butter, a salad with dried apricots, raisins, radishes and sunflower seeds, followed by apple crumble and cheese and crackers (the last items seemed a bit overkill to me, but who am I to complain!). \u00a0It certainly beat the shepherd’s pie we were to have with our original seats. ?\u00a0Yum!<\/p>\n
