\"\"<\/a>\"\"\u00a0Is this the day? \u00a0The day we start our trip… again?\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

Originally, we had tickets for August 23. \u00a0We were set to do the UK – Scotland, Ireland, a touchdown in Wales, and then jolly old England. \u00a0This was to be the beginning of a six to ten month tour – the beginning of our new life – the beginning of living<\/i>, instead of existing. \u00a0Then, the phone call came.<\/p>\n

Cancer?<\/p>\n

Luckily, it’s one of the ‘good’ ones. \u00a0We’ll get it treated, removed, and then move on. Polyp removals, CT scans, colon tattoos, surgery – this can be managed.<\/p>\n

While we’re waiting, we learn about lethal hurricanes, typhoons, flooding, earthquakes, more bombings, and Trump and Kim Jung-un facing off like deadly megalomaniacal sociopathic children!<\/p>\n

My first-world problem is minor. \u00a0We haven’t lost our home. \u00a0We don’t have children buried in the debris of an earthquake. \u00a0We don’t have H-bomb missiles flying over us.<\/p>\n

Last night, my phone rang again. \u00a0Should I answer it? \u00a0What is it this time? \u00a0My heart is pounding; my stomach is flip-flopping… it’s the Sunrise Health Region. \u00a0Something happened with Shawn’s mother!<\/p>\n

Maybe we aren’t supposed to go. \u00a0Maybe the universe (or someone or something) is trying to tell us to settle in to our couch, our backyard, our routine and quietly live out our days in relative safety.<\/p>\n

Maybe…<\/p>\n

But we’re going to try one more time. \u00a0Today, we fly to Calgary, and from Calgary to London, England.<\/p>\n

Shawn’s mom is okay. \u00a0She is SO strong, so fierce! \u00a0She is\u00a0surrounded by good friends and good family and urges us to continue. \u00a0She’s upset and surprised we were notified (Seriously, Joan? You know we want to know!) ), but wants us to start our journey.<\/p>\n

And so we do.<\/p>\n
